Greg Walton
Greg Walton is a dynamic Catholic Musician and Speaker who integrates the sacred and secular as a means to inspire and entertain his audience.
When Greg Walton was in 5th grade he begged his parents to buy him a guitar so he could imitate the art of musical legends - Elton John, The Beatles, and Fleetwood Mac. He was a quick study, but soon found that his real passion for music came from being a part of his own parish community. His participation in the youth choir and his deep reflection on the Bible prompted his interest in music evangelization and a stronger commitment to his Catholic beliefs. After his attendance at a weekend retreat he wrote his first song, "A New Day's Gonna Shine" (when he was just 15 years old) and realized he was being called to use his gifts as a means of passionately serving God and neighbor.
Greg has had incredible opportunities since that first decision to use his gift and passion of music to serve. His ministry has taken him all over the United States, Canada and Europe. He has performed at hundreds of youth rallies, Lifeteen events, dozens of festivals and evangelical events, and some of the world’s largest gatherings including World Youth Day, Creation Festival, NCYC and Kingdom Bound. Through his work as a solo artist and former band member of Polarboy, he has shared the stage with celebrated artists Matt Maher, Sarah Hart, Ceili Rain, Newsboys and others. His music is distributed by iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby, Saint Mary’s Press and Oregon Catholic Press.
In addition to his commitment to serving in music, Greg also believes deeply that Christian faith acts itself out in love and partners with the relief and development efforts of Catholic Relief Services. "Tune of Ignorance", one of his most well-known works is now a resource for CRS' FoodFast, and a central theme in Greg's Catholic Social Teaching program, "Ignorance is Not Bliss." Greg continues to write liturgical and extra-liturgical music. His latest release, King of My Heart, is a contemporary Catholic worship CD titled after his communion song published by Oregon Catholic Press. Greg resides in Spring Hill, TN with his wife, Mary, and works as the Electronic Evangelization Coordinator for St. Philip Catholic Church in Franklin, TN where he also volunteers as a music minister.
